If the U.S. wants to find a viable diplomatic path in Lebanon, it needs to work with willing Lebanese leaders to reclaim Lebanon’s sovereignty from Hezbollah and free Beirut from Tehran’s yoke
Hezbollah installing its' own people into positions of power in the government reminds me of the teachers unions installing school board members who negotiate their contracts and are sympathetic to the unions, not to the constituents or even the teachers themselves. Both are mafias.
Even after taking a beating from the IDF I understand Hezbollah is better armed, better funded and better organized than the Lebanese military. So with or without a new president, I don’t see how your plan comes to fruition, much as I would like to.
